Max Tarr was engaged by Brian Perry Civil to carry our the HFA Dosing pipework at both Te Marua & Gear Island WTP’s. This dosing Pipework consisted of a double a double containment system (one of the first sites in NZ to use this system). This system consists of a PVC sch80 inner system to carry the hazardous chemicals, with a PE100 HDPE SDR17 outer system as the double skin. The outer skin is fitted with several leak detectors at low points of the pipework construction to detect any leaks in the HFA lines. Works included pressure testing of both inner and outer skins.
Other items that were included in the scope of works included the supply & installation of the Mapress S/S 316 service water line & associated safety showers and RPZ units, as well as the Unistrut pipework support system that also doubled as the supports for the electrical scope.
The project was for Wellington Water Ltd. and was both political, at short notice and under a tight timeframe for completion. Battling with the wet months, supply chain issues all within a COVID-19 era. The contracting team pulled off what was deemed impossible; working closely with Brian Perry Civil, Stantec/Cardno, Lutra we managed to complete 2x containerised HFA Dosing systems from procurement to handover within a few short months
